Hi, my name is Kaneisha Coker, and I am a Student Therapist at Horizon Family and Community Services. I am passionate about supporting individuals, couples, teens, families, and children as they work through life’s challenges and move toward growth, healing, and resilience.
I specialize in addressing anxiety, depression, trauma, stress, relationship challenges, family conflict, self-esteem, and communication concerns through a client-centered approach, using evidence-based practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Mindfulness-Based Therapy, and Trauma-Focused Therapy.
With a bachelor’s degree in Family Studies from California State University, Sacramento, I am currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in Counseling/Marriage and Family Therapy at the University of Phoenix under the supervision of Ashley Barnes-Brown, LMFT.
My background includes experience in crisis residential programs, group homes, and inpatient psychiatric care, where I’ve worked with a wide range of diagnoses from major depressive disorder to schizophrenia. I have a special interest in supporting survivors of trauma and LGBTQ+ youth, and I strive to create a safe, welcoming space where clients feel heard, supported, and empowered on their journey of healing and self-discovery.
